Questions and Bugs / Some bugs in 17.4
« on: June 02, 2017, 01:53:54 pm »
I noticed some bugs in version17.4, maybe you did too. If not, here they are:
-Sometimes there were rounding errors which caused the wrong release values on the processing display.
-End limiter release didn't change in the processing core.
-End limiter attack and release weren't loaded when changing preset.
-After changing the preemphasis setting, it wasn't stored.
-The AM clipping wasn't shown.

17.5 will fixed these problems.

If nothing else comes up 17.5 will be released somewhere next week.

Hi, finished coding today. Tomorrow compiling and testing.
Would you like a 32bit or a 64bit version of the console 17.3 and for your friend the gui 16.6.1?
Let me know so I can compile the right one.

Hi Sébastien,
If your friend likes the sound of the 16.6 version better I can't argue with that.
If he likes I could do a partial update to remove some bugs and add the expander control to reduce the gain riding effect because I could hear some of it in de the stream.
But I just read your latest post and you switched back to 17.3 so guess it not important anyway.

Just listening to the stream right now but it's really hard to hear any difference.

Hi Sébastien,
I'm listening to the stream right now. Sounds good, not to much compression, so easy on the ears.
My understanding of french is almost zero, but the jingles I hear suggest a FM station so I take it it's the unprocessed signal that goes out to the transmitter that's being fed to Qmod?
Could you post a few screen shots of the processing, equalizer and clipper settings or send me the config file so I can analize your settings?

B.t.w. I'm going to use the 17.3 core for the console version and I'm half way through with the modifications by now.

Have a nice weekend,
Cor

Version 15.2, that means you must be a longtime user, but I'm really sorry. A few weeks ago I cleaned up my development tree and removed a lot of old ones. The oldest version I have is 16.6.

If you're streaming is that for personal use or public use so i can listen in? Would be nice to hear someone else using it.

Hi Sebastien,

I don't update the console version any longer. There are to many problems with getting all the new things, that have been added to Qmod 17.2 and up, to accomplish in a console version. I.e. RDS and with the presets that I'm working on now.
Maybe I can do an update on the code base of 17.1 without the new things but that will take some time.
I will let you know when I have some time to look at it and see if it's feasible.

  • Using Go 1.8 now. The 32bit version should be as optimized as the 64bit one now, which results in a smaller executable and less CPU time.
  • Added: basic rds/rbds encoder. You can set the program service name, program identification, program type, radio text and alternative frequencies. Thanks to Jonathan Olds (jontio.zapto.org) for the orignal code.
  • Added: AM processing.
  • Changed: rearranged the end processing display order.
  • Changed: leveler- and compressor release times are now actual time values. Previously it was a refences.
  • Fixed: some minor errors.
