- Added: Noise suppression function on the multiband compressor/limiter.
- Changed: When starting up Qmod the audio output has a fade-in.
- Changed: Removed the dependency on qps.exe to change the priority of the qmod process.
- Changed: Redesigned some parts of the compressor/limiter.
- Fixed: After changing a device parameter and restarting the core, there was no output.
- Fixed: In some cases the program wouldn't shutdown completely and you had to kill it in the task manager. It should be fixed now.
- Fixed: Prevent from opening the config window before startup is finished. Sometimes the core could freeze-up.
- Fixed: When starting up with a disabled clipper you couldn't enable the clipper control.

The 32bit version had e little mishap. It was compiled with the wrong manifest file.
Please, download the new one. It has a b added to the name.

  • Changed: Improvements on the interaction between the 1st and the 2nd stage of the compressor/limiter. Less limiting more compression which results in a better handling of transient sounds.
  • Changed: Extended the leveler attack to 400ms.
  • Added: Phase rotator to correct asymetrical tones for better clipping. You'll find the settings in the processing tab.

  • Workaround: When the config window is resized it distorts the main window. It's a bug in a part of the GUI library(GLFW) which I didn't create and am not able to fix (yet). Now a redraw is done of the main window to recreate the main window.
  • Changed: Moved the preemphasis clipper control to the FM panel. It's only used in FM mode.
  • Fixed: The preemphasis clipper wasn't disabled when not in FM mode.
  • Fixed: If you imported a preset that is currently in use, the new values weren't loaded and sent to the processing core.
  • Added: Two new presets.
  • Added: Band clipper indicator for every band.

This is mostly a bug fix.

    - Added: Reset preset to default button. All changes made to the selected preset are being removed and you start with the factory setting of the selected preset.
    - Changed: Display the Qmod logo in the main window.

Questions and Bugs / Some bugs in 17.4

I noticed some bugs in version17.4, maybe you did too. If not, here they are:
-Sometimes there were rounding errors which caused the wrong release values on the processing display.
-End limiter release didn't change in the processing core.
-End limiter attack and release weren't loaded when changing preset.
-After changing the preemphasis setting, it wasn't stored.
-The AM clipping wasn't shown.

17.5 will fixed these problems.

If nothing else comes up 17.5 will be released somewhere next week.

A new version of Qmod is available.

  • Added: Presets. You can now select, create, import and export settings. As a result of this your old processing settings are being saved as "custom" setting
  • Added: Leveler attack control. It's common for all five bands. You can select between 5ms - 200ms
  • Added: Additional values to the leveler and compressor release
  • Added: Attack and relesease control to the end limiter
  • Changed: Moved clipper setting from fm panel to processing panel and rearranged fm panel
  • Changed: GUI selection buttons behaviour changed. For a fast selection click on the button and scroll up/down. After moving the cursor out of the button, the selected value is being set. + and - only set one choice now
  • Removed: Frequency setting of the filters
  • Fixed: After changing a device setting and then restart, density and lev. coupling were switched
  • Fixed: In AM mode 4.5 and 5kHz a strange tone occured
  • Fixed: AM mono output was left channel only. The right channel went missing
  • Lots of small changes and code clean up

Just released 17.2 and now I find out that the release hold isn't working properly. Set it to zero for now. If nothing else pops up I'll release 17.3 next week

  • Using Go 1.8 now. The 32bit version should be as optimized as the 64bit one now, which results in a smaller executable and less CPU time.
  • Added: basic rds/rbds encoder. You can set the program service name, program identification, program type, radio text and alternative frequencies. Thanks to Jonathan Olds (jontio.zapto.org) for the orignal code.
  • Added: AM processing.
  • Changed: rearranged the end processing display order.
  • Changed: leveler- and compressor release times are now actual time values. Previously it was a refences.
  • Fixed: some minor errors.

Questions and Bugs / Windows Defender marks down qps.exe as a trojan

Recently WindowsDefender marks qps.exe as a Trojan. It's not. It's just a little compiled vbs scipt I made that elevates the priority mode of the qmod process from normal to high. If you don't trust it just leave it out, Qmod runs in normal priority mode.

Questions and Bugs / Parametric equalizer not working in default setup

After releasing 16.8 I noticed that the parametric equalize section didn't work in the default setting.
To solve this activate the stereo+ section and set m/s facor and low factor to zero.
The next update will correct this problem.

  • On request I'm releasing a 32bit GUI version again.
  • Added: pilot level setting. You can change the pilot tone level +/-30%
  • Changed: setting of the pilot shift from +/-10Hz to +/-20Hz
  • Fixed: in the console version the pilot shift would not reach a negative value
